Mehta’s first narrative painting songlines ’ jewels: bhakti was created during the period of his American Institute of Indian studies Senior Creative and Performing Arts Fellowship Award in Chennai, South India in 2006. Deeply inspired by his work with Carnatic music, Contemporary European music, and Improvised music – songlines ’ jewels: bhakti was interpreted by Mehta’s most recent group- TRIO ORKA-M at the New Music Festival, Rümlingen, Switzerland, September 2006.
